Craigellachie 17 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

Craigellachie 17 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from Craigellachie Distillery, founded in 1891. It was matured in American oak ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The extra years in oak give a rounded, slightly waxy texture, with tropical fruit, malt sweetness and gentle spice. The distillery's savoury, slightly meaty character is still present. The nose has ripe pineapple, baked apple, stewed pear, honeyed malt and vanilla fudge. On the palate are tropical fruit, barley sugar, toffee, crème brûlée and roasted nuts, with a faint whiff of smoke. The finish is medium-long and warming, with malt sweetness, grilled pineapple and baking spice.
