A 14-year-old Craigellachie single malt from Speyside, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2022 by Murray McDavid at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It comes from the Benchmark series and is limited to 695 bottles.
The whisky was first matured in Bourbon hogsheads, then finished for more than three years in Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour.
The nose offers toasted malt, strong mocha and poached pears. On the palate, dried fruit and rich spices lead, with Demerara sugar alongside. The finish keeps a sweet, spicy fruitcake impression for a while.
