Croftengea Bourbon Cask Finish is a peated Highland single malt from Loch Lomond Distillery, bottled by Murray McDavid as Batch 3 (BBN-03) of its Cask Craft Collection. It spent several months finishing in ex-bourbon casks from Kentucky, whose creamy vanilla, caramel and tropical fruit set a sweet counterpoint to the peat smoke.
It was bottled in 2023 at 44.5%, with natural colour and without chill-filtering.
The nose brings peat smoke and smoked wood with caramel, grilled pineapple and a light medicinal note. The palate is slightly oily, with grilled pineapple, banana, vanilla, malted barley, honey and a little smoke. The finish is of good length, with cinnamon, caramel, roasted hazelnuts and warm, aromatic peat smoke.
