Croftengea Double Cask Finish - Cask Craft - Murray McDavid (70cl, 44.5%)

A heavily peated Croftengea single malt from the Loch Lomond Distillery, bottled by Murray McDavid in its Cask Craft range at 44.5%. The whisky was divided between port and madeira barriques for its finishing period, and the two parts were then married together again. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Peat smoke, fresh fruit and creamy sweetness form the base, with red fruit, nuts and sweet oak spice added by the fortified wine casks. The nose offers dark smoke with ripe berries and cherries, rounded by a creamy, cream-toffee sweetness. On the palate, strong peat smoke and grilled tropical fruit meet ripe cherries and dark berries, with roasted nuts and fine wood spice. The finish stays smoky for a long time, leaving bright, sweet fruit behind.
