This is a 15 year old single malt from Dailuaine, a Speyside distillery. It was distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2021 by Douglas Laing for the Old Particular series at 48.4%.
The whisky comes from a single refill hogshead, a cask type that lets the distillery's own character show more than the heavily sherried style of its better-known official bottling.
The notes describe baked red apple in pastry on the nose, with vanilla caramel over almonds. The palate brings melon wrapped in prosciutto, with sweet herbal and candy notes, and the finish is fresh, sweet and salted.
