This is a nine-year-old Dailuaine single malt, number 6 in the Claxton's Exploration Series. It was distilled on 26 June 2013 and bottled in spring 2023.
It matured in a double ex-Islay cask, which gives the 'Smokey' name its context.
The nose offers malt and sweet ash, with a touch of baked seaweed and vanilla pastry. On the palate it starts sweet and peaty, then turns to malt and cereal notes with soft oak. The finish is gentle and finely malty, with light peat in the aftertaste.
