Dalmore 15 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the distillery on the Cromarty Firth, founded in 1839. It begins its maturation in American oak ex-bourbon casks.
The whisky then moves into three kinds of sherry butt from González Byass: Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso. A silver stag, the symbol of the Mackenzie clan, appears on the bottle.
The nose has orange peel, chocolate, cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg, followed by candied orange and raisins. The palate is full and silky, with mandarin, vanilla, ginger, sugared almonds and a little clove. The finish is long, warming and gently dry, with dark chocolate and oak.
