This is a 30-year-old Highland single malt from Dalwhinnie, distilled in 1989 and released in the Special Releases series. It is bottled at 51.9% ABV in a 750ml bottle, in an edition of 6,978 bottles.
The whisky was matured entirely in refill American oak hogsheads.
The nose shows ripe peaches and nectarines, moorland scents, dried herbs, butterscotch and a pencil-box woodiness. The palate is sweet and fragrant, with stone fruit, butterscotch, tobacco leaf and wood shavings, and a peppery warmth builds. The finish is long and warming, with spice, dried herbs and gentle oak.
