This is a 10 year old single malt from Deanston, a distillery near Stirling in the southern Highlands, bottled at 46.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a special bottling that matured first in ex-bourbon casks and was then finished in Bordeaux red wine casks.
Deanston was built in 1965 in a former cotton mill, and its first single malt was released in 1971.
The nose offers honey and caramel with red wine notes, sweet malt, citrus and spice. The palate is intense and complex, with sweet grapes, toffee, dark chocolate and a little chilli. The finish is long, fruity and sweet, with honey and gentle spice.
