This is an 18 year old single malt from Deanston, matured entirely in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels in the distillery's vaulted ceiling warehouse. It is bottled at 46.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The bourbon casks allow the waxy character of the malt to come through, which gives the whisky the mouthfeel Deanston is known for. Barley sugar, vanilla and crisp apple run through the character of the whisky.
The nose is aromatic, with balanced oak alongside floral, malty and grassy notes, vanilla, honey, and hints of tobacco and nutmeg. The palate is sweet and spicy, with citrus, gingerbread, Manuka honey and white pepper. The finish is dry and spicy, ending on a warming, gingery, honeyed tail.
