This is a 2008 Deanston, a 12 year old Highland single malt matured in an Oloroso sherry cask.
The nose is sweet, with dried fruits, honey, some fresh fruit and dark chocolate, then a black forest gateau of cherries and chocolate, sweet spice, nutmeg and sultanas. On the palate it is smooth, sweet and fruity, with treacle toffee, dark fruits, festive spice, a hint of mocha and a touch of pine needle. The finish is long and warming, with gingerbread and nutmeg.
