Deanston – Virgin Oak Cask Strength 2023 Edition (70cl, 58.5%)

This is Batch 1 of the Deanston Virgin Oak Cask Strength 2023 Edition, a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle at 58.5% vol. It was inspired by Brodie Hepburn, the founder of Deanston, and is a limited release. The spirit was first filled into ex-bourbon casks, which give Deanston its waxy citrus character, and then finished in American oak barriques. It is bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration. The nose shows woody spice, creamy vanilla and candied fruit. On the palate come butterscotch, heather honey, crisp green apple and the waxy Deanston note. The finish brings warming spice, a touch of citrus and some honey.
