Deanston – Virgin Oak Cask Strength Batch 1 Bottled 2023 (70cl, 58.5%)

A Highland single malt from Deanston, Batch 1 of the Virgin Oak Cask Strength, introduced late in 2023. It is a limited edition in a 70cl bottle, at a natural cask strength of 58.5%. The whisky was matured first in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for up to a year in virgin oak. It follows Deanston Virgin Oak, bottled at 46.3% and part of the core range since 2010. The colour is deep gold. The nose is robust, with wood spice, creamy custard and candied fruit. The palate brings butterscotch, heather honey, crisp green apple and a waxy note. The finish is warm and spicy, with citrus and a hint of honey.
