Deanston Virgin Oak is a Highland single malt from the Deanston distillery at Doune, in Perthshire, bottled at 46.3% ABV without chill filtration.
It is matured in virgin American oak, wood that has never held spirit before. The whisky draws its vanilla, caramel and wood sugars from fresh barrels rather than from casks partly spent by an earlier fill.
The result is bold, sweet and vanilla-led, with a rich caramel character. Drinkers who prefer a light touch of oak may find it assertive.
