Deanston – Virgin Oak Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 46.3%)

Deanston Virgin Oak is a Highland single malt matured in new bourbon casks from Kentucky, an unusual choice for Scotch whisky. It spends nine to twelve months in them at the Kelvin Cooperage. It is bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill-filtered. Deanston was a cotton mill in the late 18th century and became a distillery in 1966. The nose is strong with first-fill oak, alongside lemon zest, malt sugar, apple and nutmeg. The palate is sweet, with dried fruit, vanilla toffee and heather honey. The finish brings lively spice, honeyed malt and oak.
