Deanston – Virgin Oak Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 46.3%)

This is a Highland single malt from Deanston, finished in virgin American white oak casks. The spirit is adjusted for the purpose, and the casks, which are toasted and heavily charred, come from the Kelvin Cooperage. The whisky spends 9 to 12 months in them, a finishing period chosen so the new wood does not overwhelm the spirit. It is bottled at 46.3% vol., non-chill-filtered and with natural colour. The character is sweet, spicy and waxy, with soft honey, juicy and candied orange, orange oil from the peel, creamy vanilla, caramel and warm, aromatic spices.
