Black Whiskey is a handcrafted Andean black corn spirit distilled in Peru by Don Michael. It is aged in American oak barrels and bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle.
The colour is a bright, clean amber. The nose opens with toasted corn, vanilla and a smoky hint, then dried nuts, chestnuts, raisins and dried apricots, ending in coconut, bitter chocolate, coffee and caramel. The palate is intense at first, with the alcohol evident, and gentler on the second sip. A few drops of water ease it. Cinnamon and cardamom come through, with a bitter edge and delicate acidity.
