Scallywag is a small batch Speyside blended malt from Douglas Laing, made with malts that include Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill-filtered.
Its deep, dark colour comes from maturation in Spanish sherry butts.
The nose is richly spiced, woven through with vanilla. The palate brings layers of sweet stewed fruit and dark chocolate with nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish has a burst of zesty orange with fresh ginger, cocoa and rich fruitcake.
