Dramfool Red Bag is a 16 year old single malt from Islay, described as a South Islay classic. Bourbon casks give it a sweet, oaky, spicy character that sits alongside the phenolic smoke.
Peat smoke runs through it, with heather, hot sand and an Atlantic note, while the crisp sweetness of the barley sugars adds balance and contrast. Slight fruity and floral notes are also present, attributed to the yeasts used in fermentation.
The finish is long and intense.
