Il Nido is an American single malt from Dream Whisky, an independent bottler, in a 50cl bottle. It comes from the closed Death's Door distillery in Wisconsin and belongs to an annual series made with Jerry Thomas Project.
The spirit is made from malted barley grown by carefully chosen local farmers, distilled in Scottish-style pot stills and aged for six months in American casks that previously held bourbon.
The nose is spicy, with salted caramel, cinnamon and cola-flavoured Haribo sweets. The palate is rich and structured, with touches of honey, wood, chinotto and custard, and the finish is woody, long and persistent.
