Drumblade 2011/2021 10 Year Old Battlehill (Duncan Taylor) (70cl, 46%)

A 10-year-old blended malt Scotch whisky from Duncan Taylor's Battlehill range, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2021 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Drumblade is a teaspooned malt: Ailsa Bay forms the base, with a small addition of malt from another distillery. Sherry cask maturity meets restrained peat smoke, adding sweet and nutty character. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose opens with vegetal smoke and pine, then raisins, butterscotch, walnut cake and pecan tart. The palate is peppery, with moderate smoke, boiled-sweet sweetness and leafy notes beside butterscotch and raisins. The finish is medium in length, sweet and peppery.
