A Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, matured for 21 years in new charred American oak and bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is among the oldest age-stated bourbons Heaven Hill has released.
The long maturation brings a strong oak influence, yet the bourbon is described as elegant and balanced rather than over-oaked. The colour is deep mahogany with copper highlights.
The nose offers caramelised sugar, vanilla bean, toasted oak, leather, dark chocolate and dried fruit with a hint of baking spice. On the palate there is toffee, butterscotch, cinnamon, roasted nuts and dark fruit, and the finish is very long and warming, with spice, oak, cocoa and sweet tobacco.
