Henry McKenna Single Barrel is a 10 year old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled in bond at 100 proof (50% ABV). It is made by Heaven Hill at its Bernheim Distillery from a mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley.
Each bottle comes from a single barrel and is labelled with that barrel's number and barrelling date, so character can differ slightly from one bottle to the next. The brand is named after Henry McKenna, an Irish immigrant who settled in Kentucky in 1837.
The nose offers caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and baking spices with rye spice, mint and orange peel. Rich caramel, toffee, honey-roasted nuts and cinnamon lead the palate, and the finish is long and warming, with brown sugar, tobacco and leather.
