A 10-year-old Kentucky straight rye from Heaven Hill of Bardstown, released as Batch H-04. It is bottled at barrel strength, 124.4 proof (62.2% ABV), without dilution and non-chill filtered, in a 75cl bottle.
The mash bill is Heaven Hill's traditional rye recipe of 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley. Long maturation brings seasoned oak and dark fruit alongside cinnamon, nutmeg, molasses and peppery rye.
The nose offers baking spice, gingerbread, molasses and toasted oak. On the palate come stewed fruit, butterscotch and cinnamon, leading to a long, warming finish of butterscotch and black pepper.
