Elijah Craig Straight Rye is an extra-aged Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown. The mash bill is 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged in new charred American oak. It is bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is rye spice, with pepper, dried herb and caraway, alongside caramel and vanilla. On the palate, cinnamon and pepper come first, softened by corn sweetness and caramel from the oak. The finish is warm and spiced, with lingering rye grain and oak.
