Elsburn 3 Years Old Batch 2 - That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 48.8%)

A young single malt from the Harz in Germany, Elsburn Batch 2 spent three years in a former Marsala cask before That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottled it for its Wine Cask Series. It is bottled at 48.8% in a 50cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. The illustrated label draws on the local legend of the wingless Hazelworm from the mountains near Zorge, with Anna and Martina making music above the distillery and a dragon keeping watch below. The nose offers dark chocolate, black cherries, sweet pipe tobacco and walnut oil, with a hint of charred wood. Black cherries, juicy dates and bitter chocolate meet on the palate. The finish is medium, with coffee, toffee, fresh bread, raisins and a touch of orange peel.
