EMILL Feinwerk Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 42%)

A Black Forest single malt from the historic Scheibel mill in Kappelrodeck, bottled at 42% under the distillery's own EMILL brand. After three years of initial maturation, it spends a 100-day finish in a cask that Scheibel filled with port beforehand. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The whisky is distilled twice in hand-hammered copper swan-neck stills and matures on two floors of the mill, where winter cold, summer warmth and damp from the Acher stream act on the casks. The nose shows plum, blackcurrant and blueberry, with vanilla, cocoa and gentle sweet smoke. The palate is soft, lightly creamy and oily, with aged port, cocoa, milk chocolate and candied citrus. The finish is long and dry, with brandy notes and dark chocolate.
