Emperor's Way Frederick II is a smoky single malt from Hercynian Distilling Co., named after Frederick II, emperor of the Roman-German Empire, who was born in northern central Italy and died in Sicily. The series is made from 100% local barley, dried over Lower Saxon peat to up to 35 ppm.
In keeping with those Italian ties, it matured in Amarone hogsheads and Marsala casks.
Peat smoke meets fresh cherries, plums, grapes and orange zest, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, mild coffee and sticky toffee.
