A German single malt from Hercynian Distilling Co. in the Harz, made from malted barley and described as fully handcrafted. It was bottled in 2026 at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle, in an outturn of 384 bottles.
The whisky matured in first-fill rye whiskey casks and Malaga Moscatel hogsheads, pairing grain spice with the honeyed texture of the Malaga wine. It is light amber in colour, non-chill-filtered and free of added colour.
The nose offers ripe cherries and dried raisins over fine vanilla sweetness, with star anise and a little orange bitterness. On the palate come rye bread spice and honeyed richness, and the finish is long, woody and spicy with a touch of honey.
