This is a 13-year-old Fettercairn from Claxton's, a family firm that began releasing its own casks in 2015. It was matured in a high-grade Bourbon barrel, bottled at 54.1% without chill filtration, and only 229 bottles were filled.
The nose is light and biscuity, with crackers, distant vanilla wafers, malt extract and cream tea biscuits. On the palate the malt is slightly tempered at first, with pastry and beeswax, before the barley returns in full. The finish is creamy and vanilla-laced, with wood spices gathering pace.
