Fettercairn – 16 Year Old 4th Release 2023 (70cl, 46.4%)

This is the fourth release of Fettercairn's 16 year old Highland single malt, a distillery bottling that first appeared in 2020. This edition came out towards the end of 2023 in a 70cl bottle at 46.4%, without colouring or chill filtration. The cask recipe changes from year to year. This release was matured in ex-bourbon casks and then given a generous finish in first fill port pipes, which brings berry and cooked dark fruit flavours. The colour is a rich golden amber. The palate is described as tropical fruit warmth with berry fruits, rich cacao, sugared almonds and floral top notes. The finish combines blackberries and raspberries with vanilla, caramel, plum, ginger cake, cherries and aged oak spice.
