Fettercairn – 22 Years (70cl, 47%)

Fettercairn 22 Years is a Highlands single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 47% abv. It first appeared in 2018. The whisky spent its whole 22 years maturing in American ex-bourbon casks, with no finishing. The result is sweet and fruity, with light spice and wood. The nose has dried fruit with green apple, butter cake and cedarwood, and a little hay behind. The palate is spicy and fruity, with banana, citrus and plum alongside raisins, exotic spices and some gingerbread. The finish is long and fruity, with spiced pear, caramelised orange and a little coffee, then liquorice giving way to plums and syrup.
