Finlaggan Old Reserve is an Islay single malt bottled at 40% ABV by the Vintage Malt Whisky Company. It is a pale straw-gold, with a light viscosity.
The nose has a medicinal edge, with sticking plasters, peanut and digestive biscuits, and manuka honey sweetness softening the peat above a clean, coastal smokiness.
On the palate, sweet cereals and barley malt lead into a wave of peat smoke with a TCP note, then warming nutmeg and ginger. The finish is long and sweet, with toasty oak and a lift of peppermint as it fades.
