Finlaggan Sherry Finish Islay Single Malt

Finlaggan Sherry Finish is an Islay single malt produced in small batches from malted barley distilled in pot stills. It is matured first in bourbon casks, then given a final period in used sherry casks. Finlaggan is a brand name rather than a working distillery. The whisky pairs peat smoke with the sweetness of the sherry wood. The nose is smoky, with smoked oak, raisins, dried plums and a hint of old leather. On the palate it is full and robust, with caramel, vanilla, lightly sweet tobacco, leather and fresh apricot. The finish is long and warm, with sherry and fruit sweetness, spice and a little smoke at the very end.
