This is a 30 year old single barrel rum from Flor de Caña, drawn from one white oak ex-bourbon barrel filled in 1988. It was aged naturally in Nicaragua with no added sugar, and marks five generations of the Pellas family and the distillery's 130th anniversary. Each bottle is individually numbered and bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle.
It pours deep mahogany. The nose brings ripe fruit, orange, mint, caramel and vanilla over oak. The palate is rich and complex, with prune, burnt muscovado sugar, cooked orange, maraschino cherry, spice and dark chocolate.
The finish is long and dry, with lingering oak and coffee.
