A single barrel rye from Brooklyn's Fort Hamilton, bottled at 45% ABV from one 30-gallon char #3 American oak barrel. The mash is 90% New York-grown rye and 10% malted barley, with no corn. It was distilled at Taconic Distillery in Stanfordville and made under the Empire Rye designation.
It is aged for a minimum of five years in Brooklyn, bottled non-chill-filtered, and hand-labelled with batch, barrel and bottle number. A barrel yields about 130 bottles.
The nose is bright with caramel, juniper berry, spearmint and lemon zest. The palate brings caramelised sugar, cherry, white pepper and cinnamon, and the finish is long and tingling, with dark cocoa and oak.
