Four Roses – Single Barrel Bourbon (70cl, 50%)

This is a straight bourbon from Four Roses in Kentucky, bottled from single barrels at 50% vol. in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled from two mash bills of corn, rye and malted barley, with a higher proportion of rye for extra spice. Five yeast strains are used in fermentation. The spirit runs through column stills and then a doubler, and matures in new charred oak for seven to nine years. The colour is amber. The nose is very intense, with warm spice, wood and vanilla, plums and cherries. The palate is complex and woody, with coconut shell. The finish is very long and warming, spicy and woody.
