Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon is made at the Frey Ranch Estate Distillery, which opened in 2014 on the family farm near Fallon, Nevada. The grain is grown on the ranch, then malted, distilled, matured and bottled there. It is bottled at 45% ABV.
The mash bill combines non-GMO corn, winter cereal rye, winter wheat and two-row barley. The whiskey is distilled in a custom Vendome still, matured for four years and is non-chill-filtered.
The nose has ripe summer black and Rainier cherries, a sour tang like sourdough and a background of sugar cane. The palate is velvety and soft, with a quick astringent edge.
