Fukano Limited Edition White Oak Japanese Whisky (70cl, 43.2%)

Fukano Limited Edition White Oak is a koji rice whisky at 43.2% ABV in a 700ml bottle, a limited release from Fukano Distillery in Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto. It is distilled from 100% rice, malted, unmalted and koji, fermented for 21 days and distilled once in a stainless steel pot still. The distillery has been family-run since 1823 and began as a Kuma shochu producer. Ageing in white oak keeps the influence of the wood light, and the whisky is non-chill filtered. Tasting notes describe fruity, floral aromas with a touch of oak tannin and caramelised pineapple. The palate is light-bodied and mineral, with underripe yellow nectarine, cinnamon and wet leather, finishing bright and salty.
