George Dickel 9 Year Old Hand Selected Barrel Sour Mash Whisky (75cl, 50%)

A nine-year-old Tennessee whisky from the Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tullahoma, bottled as a single barrel from the Hand Selected Barrel programme and individually numbered. The distillery was founded by George A. Dickel in 1870. Dickel mellows its spirit through charcoal before it goes into the new charred oak barrel, rather than after distillation, so the barrel then works on a spirit that has already been softened. This order of steps is what separates the Dickel method from that of its Tennessee neighbour. Reviewers describe a silky texture with plenty of vanilla, and a fruity sweetness that is balanced by dry, toasty wood.
