A high-rye straight bourbon named after George Remus, the Prohibition-era 'King of the Bootleggers'. It is made at the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from several blended mash bills, and aged for a minimum of five years in charred American white oak barrels. It is bottled at 47% ABV in a 750ml bottle, and is non-chill-filtered.
The nose has maple, vanilla, baking spice and a hint of rye pepper. On the palate come caramel and brown sugar, then cinnamon and clove over toasted oak and a little dried fruit. The finish is medium to long, with vanilla, oak char and gentle pepper.
