This is Kornog Roc'h Hir, a peated single malt from Glann ar Mor, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured for 3 years in a bourbon cask. Kornog, Breton for 'West Wind', is the distillery's peated label, first released in November 2009 at 30-35 ppm.
Martine and Jean Donnay established the Celtic Whisky Compagnie in 1997 and began distilling in 1999. The distillery uses small stills fired by live flame, wooden washbacks and seaside maturation.
Lanolin and wet wool lead the nose, with dried apple, cinnamon and light cocoa coming forward with air. The palate is oily and crisp with cereal malt, and the finish adds cocoa-laced peat, walnut and lanolin.
