This is a 15 year old Glen Elgin single malt from Speyside, distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2024 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 85.77, named Moroccan Medjool Mystique. It is bottled at 57.4% ABV.
The whisky spent its first 11 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead before a finish in a first fill American oak PX hogshead. The cask produced 277 bottles.
The nose offers buttered fruit loaf, mango doughnuts, brandy snaps, rum and raisin ice cream and apple-scented shampoo. The palate brings banana loaf, chocolate-dipped marshmallows and warm black and blueberry sauce. With water, sweet, juicy medjool dates appear, with honey, toffee and caramel.
