Glen Garioch – 12 Year Old 2011 Old Malt Cask 25th Anniversary (70cl, 50%)

This is a 12 year old Glen Garioch single malt, distilled in 2011 and bottled by Hunter Laing as one of twenty five releases marking the 25th anniversary of its Old Malt Cask series. It comes from a single Bourbon hogshead, with 242 bottles filled at 50% in 70cl, without artificial colouring or chill-filtration. The anniversary releases appear in the series' original green and gold presentation. The nose offers ripe apples, toffee and a little menthol. The palate is sweet, with mixed fruit yoghurt, apple blossom and honey, and the fruity sweetness runs into a finish with a light herbal note.
