Glen Garioch – 2011 12 Year Old Berry Bros & Rudd Single Cask 08028 (70cl, 58.4%)

This is a 12-year-old single cask Glen Garioch, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2023 by Berry Bros & Rudd at 58.4% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. After its time in cask, the whisky spent two years finishing in an Oloroso sherry butt before bottling, producing 433 bottles. The result is a spicy, full-bodied dram with sherried dried fruit, cooked brambles and a thread of smoke. The official notes find dark chocolate and tea leaves on the nose, with prune cake and spiced sultanas emerging over time. The palate is thick, with dried fruit, wood smoke, brambles and oak spice, and the long finish balances fruit, spice, smoke and sherry wood.
