First fill Bourbon barrel
A 31-year-old Glen Garioch single malt, distilled in 1992 and bottled in 2023 at 54.6%. It is Angus, a Scottish nobleman in Shakespeare's Macbeth, and belongs to The Thanes within the Macbeth Collection, released with Act One. Elixir Distillers bottled it in partnership with Livingstone, and 600 bottles were filled. It is a vatting of four first-fill Bourbon barrels of American oak. The texture is pronounced, combining floral and spicy character with a fruity, pastry-like quality. It is not smoky, and it is non-chill-filtered with no added colour. On the nose, candied citrus peel, white grape and kiwi give way to panettone, dried apricot and light sugar syrup. The palate is rich and oily, with green fruit, banana, cough sweets, oat biscuit, nutmeg and wild flowers. The finish is long and stony, with lingering fruit.
