This is the 17 year old Glen Garioch Renaissance, Chapter 3, a limited edition single malt from the Highlands. It is bottled at 50.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The Renaissance Collection follows the distillery's current house style over four annual releases.
The whisky is unpeated and was matured in bourbon and sherry casks.
On the nose, honey and malted biscuit come first, followed by orange peel, citrus and dark chocolate. The palate is full of citrus, led by bitter orange marmalade, with milk orange chocolate and a crack of black pepper. The finish has toasted brown sugar, slightly burnt, with chocolate-covered ginger and white pepper.
