Glen Grant – 1981 5 Year Old (75cl, 40%)

This is a Glen Grant 5 Year Old distilled in 1981, bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It was imported to Italy by Seagram Italia, which owned the distillery at the time. Vintage bottlings of Glen Grant at five years old were very popular in Italy, beginning with a 1966 vintage launched in 1971. That popularity eventually led to Gruppo Campari buying the distillery in 2006. Armando Giovinetti, the distillery's earlier Italian importer, had a good deal to do with this, recognising that a young whisky would appeal to compatriots more used to drinking grappa.
