Glen Scotia – 18 Years Old (70cl, 46%)

Glen Scotia 18 Years Old is a Campbeltown single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. Most of its maturation takes place in used American bourbon casks, after which the whisky spends about 12 months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. That sherry time adds a fruity note, which sits alongside citrus aromas. The nose balances sweet and bitter fruit with delicate vanilla from the bourbon cask, and is light, fresh and lively. The palate is soft and silky, with lemon and grapefruit lifted by fine ginger, then cinnamon, juicy peaches and maple syrup. The finish is well balanced and savoury, with a light pecan toffee note.
