Glen Scotia Double Cask is a Campbeltown single malt bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The distillery dates its whisky-making to 1832.
The whisky is matured first in first-fill bourbon casks and then in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
The nose is very sweet, with crème caramel, caramelised fruit sugar and toffee before apple and peach come through, and later charred bourbon wood with a pleasant, dusty dryness. The palate starts sweet, full and oily, with a dry distillery character and some depth; water brings out dried mint. The finish is oak and vanilla with light spice.
